The girl dancing by herself, unselfconsciously, in the middle of the room, with the “Eyes of Them All” upon her. One moment you’re dancing with someone who bears an uncanny resemblance to your ex (“Martha Sways”), and later you start slagging your best friend as way of endearing yourself to his recently dumped ex (“Quite Like You”).\u003cbr style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"\u003e\u003cbr style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"\u003eDid that all really happen in the same night? On first listen, it seems the singer is a tad self-involved, dictating if and how people can \"hang with them\" - but I think the deeper message in the song is the fear of being open and vulnerable enough to just let oneself get hurt in the pursuit of love - and singing about that is, strangely...vulnerable. We recorded Whistleblower in 6\/8 for \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic;\"\u003eClub Meds \u003c\/span\u003eand it got lost in the shuffle and never made the records.
